The Ministry of Defence has cleared a 20 years old development plan to acquire 6 standard submarines with the capacity to remain submerged for quite a long time. The request will make a contest that will include Larsen & Toubro Limited, commonly known as L&T, and Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited. Project 75I-class submarine will be the first under the strategic partnership model, declared 4 years ago to support the native defence production.
The 1st submarine made under the P75I is probably going to be handed over by 2030 L&T and MDL have to respond in association with 5 Original Equipment Manufacturer, to RFP. Both the organizations should react to the Request for Proposal by restricting with one of the 5 effectively selected shipyards, which are JSC Rosoboronexport of Russia, Daewoo Group in South Korea, ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems of Germany, Shipbuilding company Navantia in Spain, and Defense contractor company Naval Group in France.
On June 4, the Defence ministry also states that the DAC likewise supported capital acquisitions of different hardware for advancements and air defence guns of the Indian military adding up to almost Rs 6,000 crore. “This P75I imagines native development of 6 standard submarines outfitted with the cutting edge Air Autonomous Propulsion system at an expected expense of $6 billion.
