Ex-CBI Director and Former Manipur and Nagaland governor Ashwani Kumar Dies by Suicide at the age of 70 in Shimla on Wednesday. He has been found hanging in his house. According to Shimla police, they have found a suicide note and it is verified by his family. Mr Ashwani Kumar was depressed for several weeks.
Shimla police investigating this matter. A group of doctors from Indira Gandhi Medical College & Hospital were post-mortem the body. The police has requested to proceed under section of 174 at the Police Station East in Shimla.
1973-batch IPS officer Ashwani Kumar was appointed to Director General Of Police of Himachal in 2006 to 2008. After that he became the Central Bureau of Investigation between 2008 to 2010. He was the first IPS police officer from the Himachal Pradesh to head the Central Bureau of Investigation agency. In 2010, he retired from IPS. He was also the Governor of Manipur and Nagaland between 2013 and 2014.
